Qualitative Data for Risk and Problems Identification
Here is some of the qualitative data collected by Council of Liverpool, which is useful for developing your crime prevention plan. You are required use these data for problem and risk identification.

Participant 1: “Breaking-in is common in this area. I had experienced that three times last year. There is a drug addict living next-door and I suspected that it was done by him. My neighbours also experienced that. I guess, I am not sure if I am right, but we all suspected that it was because there are many drug users around. When they are out of money, they just break into your house, take your stuff to sell for buying drugs.”

Participant 2: “This area is safe in general, except theft. Yes, this happen in my store quite often, mostly done by drug users. They often come to my store without buying anything. You know, their behaviour is weird sometimes and scared away my customers. ”

Participant 3: “I do worry about my children’s safety to be honest. My daughter told me that those drug users often asking for spare change from her. Though they wouldn’t do anything if you refused them, I do worry about her safety – god knows if they would do anything further?”

Participant 4: “You know they (drug users) always hang around in front of my store, they might drive my customers away even they didn’t do anything and just hanging around.”

Participant 5: “Stores close pretty early here, and there is not sufficient lightning in the plaza. Some drug users would hang around in the plaza, and do injection at night, and leaving needles there. I almost sit on a used needle once. The plaza was too dark, so I didn’t notice the needle.”

Participant 6: “My area is not that vibrant compare to where I lived. It’s very quiet with no shops or any amenities around. People drive, so you seldom see people here. People just drive home straightaway, who would hang around in such boring residential area? Police petrol? You kidding, are you new to this area? CCTV? Well.. you could find that in the rail station but not here. I heard my neighbour that someone sneaked into her unit from backyard and stole her computer when she was having shower.”

Participant 7: “My son told me that there are some teens “sniffing” near the mall. Some of them selling those stuff (drug) near the station and mall. They did approach my son several times, and claim that they could offer him a free trial. It seems that they see drug as something for leisure and don’t see the harm. I wonder why they are unsupervised and have no knowledge about it. I don’t think my son would try that, but I do worry about other kids. Kids are ignorant .”
