How is Neolithic Stonehenge different from and similar to the Paleolithic?
Pick one or two Paleolithic objects or a place in answering this question.
What is the fundamental difference between Paleolithic and Neolithic societies? Does this affect their sense of place? What about the iconography of each?
This is our first major discussion, and I must emphasize that you use these opportunities to start honing your writing skills. Your responses should demonstrate an understanding of the course readings and contain citations, either from the readings or from relevant outside sources, although the latter is not necessary.
If you used outside references, you must get into the habit of citing your sources. This course is not only about art and architectural history: it’s about learning how to write academic papers. To that end, make sure you use citation systems like footnotes, or the easiest way to cite is to use parenthetical notation. All you have to do is write the author’s name, book, and page number. For example, (Huerta, Book 45).
Most importantly, remember to start writing in an essay format: that is, start each one of your paragraphs with a topic sentence, and make sure to have transition sentences between paragraphs. If you are having trouble, the easiest solution is to read your responses aloud. Get into this habit if you are having trouble writing.
