In current times, with rapid development in healthcare, the ability to change is a critical element of all organisations if they are to develop, take advantage of new opportunities or respond to threats. This has never been more evident than during the last nine months during Covid in frontline healthcare. Edgar Schein suggests “That the only thing of real importance that leaders do is to create and manage culture”.

1. Describe the prevalent culture present in your own organisation, workplace. This can be pre, during or both covid pandemic

2. Analyse the main characteristics of that culture and interpret the effect this culture is having on the current performance of the organisation and its ability to change

3. Outline a plan to improve the culture and employee engagement within your own workplace/organisation. Again this can be reflected on prior to the pandemic, or during and currently in covid – 19!
